June 28 is National Insurance Awareness Day, a day to review your personal or business insurance policies to ensure the appropriate coverage is in place.
“Insurance – whether it’s for a car, a home or a business – can fall under a ‘set it and forget it’ mentality. In reality, Michiganders should review their policies every year to ensure they have the appropriate coverage and their policy is keeping pace with life’s milestones,” said Tricia Kinley, executive director of the Insurance Alliance of Michigan. “National Insurance Awareness Day is a great reminder to review auto, home or business insurance policies so you aren’t caught off guard if disaster strikes.”
Important changes for you and your family could signal a need to review your insurance
policies, including:
A child nearing the age of 16
A child heading off to college
You and/or your spouse nearing retirement
Having a new child or grandchild
Being close to paying off your home
Plans to open a new business or expand an existing one
“If you have any questions about your insurance policy and if it should be updated, contact your insurance company or agent. Both are there to answer the call – day or night – to tackle everything from routine claims to disasters,” Kinley said. “Our member companies are there to answer your questions and help protect families, homes and businesses.”
